| The Mount Calvary Church (Kalvarienbergkirche) was built between 1701 and 1709. In the Mount Calvary Church is the tomb of the great classical composer Joseph Haydn (1732-1809). Haydn, an Austrian, was employed with the Esterházy family as a court musician for more than 40 years. After his death he was first buried in Vienna, but later his remains were transferred to this church in Eisenstadt. - The house where Haydn lived from 1766 to 1790 is now a museum. So is his Summer Hut and Herb Gardens just outside the old city walls (guided tours).
