| See the former palace of the Esterházy princes (Schloss Esterházy), which was originally built in the14th century and rebuilt extensively 1663-72. The palace is open to visitors, but may be visited only as part of a guided tour. There are exhibitions (treasures belonging to the Esterházy family) and Haydn concerts (works by other composers too) to be enjoyed every week between April and October, and the high point of the concert season is The Haydn Festival which takes place in September every year. The music of Haydn (masses) is also performed in the Mount Calvary Church where Haydn is buried. |
