The baroque palace of Halbturn is just 35 minutes by car from Vienna, not far from the Neusiedlsee. Steeped in Austrian history and tradition, the visitor can enjoy a wide range of activities; you can walk in the beautiful landscaped gardens and grounds, visit exhibitions, enjoy concerts, taste and buy fine wines from the castle vineyards, and eat in the delightful restaurant. Built in 1711 by Lukas von Hildebrandt, the palace became a summer and sporting residence of the Emperor and his household. The ceiling fresco in the central hall, "Triumph of Light" by Franz Anton Maulbertsch, is one of the special attractions. rt and culture play an important role in the life of Schloss Halbturn. Each year, from May to October, there is a major exhibition in the palace, and smaller exhibitions in the adjoining Knappenstockl as well as in other parts of the former imperial stables where local and internationally known artists display their work. The large number of visitors is proof of the ever-growing interest in these exhibitions. During the summer months there are weekly Saturday concerts, too, for visitors to enjoy.
