What is immediately evident is the façade which, for its position inside the courtyard, appearing in front of the people who enter it, is considered the main façade. It’s decorative exultation, ordered by the Bishop Pappacoda in honor of the Virgin ascending to Heaven. The Latin cross interior consists of 3 naves separated by pillars and half – columns. The sumptuous altars, sometimes overloaded with excessive decoration, are set at the site of both naves, ascribed by G. Penna. The high altar, in polychrome marble, was bought with legacy of the Bishop Scipione Sersale and consecrated in 1757. The Bell tower is high 72 meters. A balustrade made out of “pietra leccese” (stone of Lecce) surrounds each of the 5 floors and supports recurrent motifs of the local Baroque
