Kremsmünstererhof
Secular building
no
At the beginning of the 17th century, the Kremsmünstererhof belonged to the rich tradesman Rupert Trinker and in 1630 was transferred to the possession of the Kremsmünster monastery. From 1635, the Kremsmünstererhof was a free house meaning that the owners of this house were granted special privileges. The Kremsmünstererhof has been home to a painting studio since 1644, its most famous painter being Baroque artist Wolfgang Andres Heindl (1693 - 1757). The house has a charming Rococo facade (18th century) with decorative ornamentation around the windows, as is typical of Baroque construction. The pilaster structure of the facade and Kremsmünster monastery coat of arms over the portal increase the artistic effect. The atmospheric arcade courtyard to the south at the back of the house is always a source of admiration for visitors. Today the Kremsmünstererhof is a Hotel.
