General information
Weißsches Freihaus (freehouse)
Other attraction
no
This house was built in 1589 by Christoph Weiß who was pledge keeper of the castellany of Wels and Lord of Würting castle. The 'Weißsche Freihaus' has an interesting facade with ornate window frames and faceted ashlars. The Renaissance construction has more of a sober and strict appearance than the neighbouring Baroque buildings but is no less impressive. The 'Weißsche Freihaus' is based on the Palazzo di Diamanti in Ferrara which has a similar facade with faceted ashlars.
