| It was this palace where the remarkable rise of the Khevenhüller noble family began.
Christoph Khevenhüller and his wife, Elisabeth Mannsdorf, had the three-storey Renaissance palace built in 1537. It is the birthplace of one of Europe's most important diplomats, Hans Khevenhüller (1538), imperial ambassador to the Spanish court of Philip II. He was elected to membership of the Order of the Golden Fleece.
The Spittal Town Hall is therefore accommodated in a truly historic building. |
