| The village of Rothenthurn is located at the foot of the red tower (roter Turm, hence the name), the oldest part of the castle. Last renovated in 1985, the castle is now private property. The chapel of St. Barbara was first mentioned in 1524 and decorated with fresco paintings in 1737.
