Description:
The current Romanesque structure of S. Maria di Propezzano dates from the late-13th century to early-14th century. The façade features a central core with a horizontal crowning and central window with brickwork lintel. At the bottom is a small portico marked by three ogival arches features early-15th century frescoes. The left side of the façade, which is lower than the central section, has another richly decorated portal, called the Porta Santa (1300). The interior is divided into a nave and two aisles with rounded arches. The presbyterial area is raised and the apse is composed of the last arches with cross vaulting. The monastery has a large and atmospheric coister with frescoes.
