| The Castle is located at the top of the country. Uncertain is the date of its foundation. The Casauriense Chronicle reports that the Castle is built around the year 1000 after which the abbot of St. Clement had given the possession of Castrum Tocci (Fortress Touch) to the heirs of Girardo. But this building was destroyed by the abbot.
The Castle was rebuilt in the same place of the original rectangular shape with four towers and battlements feature (still visible in the tower facing South) that allowed the guards to hide and protect themselves during the attack of enemies. |
