| It is the masterpiece of the city, is now being restored. It dates from the fourteenth century and was definitely ended April 20, 1336, as appears from a contract found in Rome, drawn from Orso Orsini. Initially It had only one floor; was elevated and enlarged by Roberto Orsini in the second half of '400. Other changes were made when it passed to the Colonna, but there are the symbols of both families in many details of the building. There are many elements that testify to the artistic beauty of the palace: the stained glass windows, mullions, decorative rooms, paintings, stairs and especially the Central Chapel frescoes are still visible. Other frescoes and other decorations are kept in the Museum in the Palazzo Ducale Celano to allow the restoration work. |
