| Corso Alessandrini has a whole series of noble buildings and churches, including the church of S. Giovanni Battista, or Dei Cavalieri di Malta, and the church of The Annunziata. Between the two churches, under the Salconio porticoes is the pictoresque Gothic Portella, also called Porta delle Conce because it was at the entrance to the tanner's district. The gate is one of the few remaining examples of the 13th-14th c. architecture. At the end of the street is Palazzo Gaudiosi, with baroque lines and 19th C. frescoes inside. The nearby Palazzo Picchetto-Pansa features a sculpted stone portal and the emblem of Margaret of Austria in the entrance hall. |
