The original core of the church is Romanesque, while the current one is the sixteenth-seventeenth century. It was built on the previous system, as evidenced by the stone mullioned windows and some placed in the downstream part (floor below the core current), and the buttress of brick Romanesque, recently restored, which was dated 1528. The building has three naves, irregular plan, because they adapted to the rock. In the facade, made ​​of local stone, there is a large arc that continues the arcade side view green valley of the River Forum. In it we honor San Domenico Abate, the patron saint of Pretoro, on whose feast (the first Sunday of May) commemorates the miracle of San Domenico with the passion play "Lu Lope" and the tradition of snake-charmers. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas, St. East (Anatolia, now Turkey). The cult of the saint was brought to Italy by the Crusaders. In it are two works of considerable artistic merit, piety century polychrome terra cotta. XVII, and a large carved wooden portal in 1630 and recently restored and placed within the sacred building.
