| The Convent of the Nativity or Abbey of St. Mary Catignano is a splendid example of Romanesque architecture of the twelfth century. The ancient seat of Benedictine, which is the church with three naves divided by pillars and columns was subsequently occupied by the Capuchins, whose convent was dedicated to St. Irene, whose relics are preserved in the sacred building. The stone doorway has jambs decorated with carved scrolls and a bezel, which is housed in a relief depicting a Madonna and Child by Roman mold. |
