The church was built in the late 16th century and renovated several times. For this reason, does not present an architectural style defined. The exterior facade is local stone and late Renaissance style, divided into three sections by two rows of columns and enriched with niches and a rosette. The tympanum is surmounted by a stone statue of St. John the Baptist. The square-based bell tower was built in baroque style designed by Magaletti and was completed in 1763 with a crown "onion". The crowning glory was destroyed by lightning in 1897 and were initiated work on a reconstruction, which provided a structure taller and more massive, never completed. The interior has three naves, with frescoes on the ceiling of the nave and nineteenth-century paintings by local artists. Above the presbytery is the so-called "Cappellone", which houses the organ pipes and center the statue of the Madonna del Pozzo. The decorations are the coat of arms with the cross of Malta, and depictions of the Lamb, the symbol of St. John the Baptist.
