At the beginning of the seventeenth century the clergy of Fasano gave to the Friars Minor Observant a garden where, with permission of Pope Clement 8th, was built thanks to the generosity of wealthy families in town, a monastery for 12 monks. Together with the convent was built a chapel dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Immaculate, from which arose also a homonymous confraternity. After the monastery was built the cloister decorated with frescoes depicting the Little Flowers of St. Francis. In 1753 the expansion of the church was completed and this was consecrated.
