The church was built in 1645, as stated in the existing rock engraving in the churchyard. The great church, the Baroque style, with references to the Romanesque-Pugliese, consists of a high-vaulted nave and two aisles at once low, divided into three bays sailing, resting on three pillars, and terminating each square with a columns of local stone balustrade. The nave ends with the small presbytery and the altar of the Madonna. The courtyard of the shrine in the rock outcropping, now completely restored with "chianche" (local stone) purchased or kindly provided by the faithful, was fenced in the West, ie the side of the access road, by a low wall to dry in the middle of a high-arched doorway. The old small presbytery, was replaced with the current complex of brick, with a central altar of artistic style basilica.
