It's called the Great Tower because it is the largest and most important the defensive system of the walls. Is presented to a parallelepiped shape and develops in height 18 m for a base of approximately 8 m to 10 meters. Presumably dates back to its original conformation Norman-Swabian, between the eleventh and twelfth centuries, and in the fourteenth century to the static problems was enlarged and covered by a jacket of hewn stone. The tower has no defensive measures such as slits or drains and the structure was not suitable to withstand the impact of firearms, so it was definitely used as a watchtower or signaling.
