The Church is dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta and its original construction dates back to the early decades of the fifteenth century. the Mother Church was built in 15 century. In the 17 century it was enlarged in the middle aisle and 11 altars and 19 century were built the two lateral naves. On the seventeenth-century facade of the nave, you can enjoy a rich canopy of local stone carved in relief and completed by a window with the image of the Assumption. The central tympanum stands a medallion representing the local stone cock, the keys of Heaven and Hell, religious symbols linked to the figure of the Patron Saint. Formerly, the land around the church, like the Church of St. Peter the Apostle and like the majority of the churches of the past, was used as a burial place. Under the presbytery, there are still underground where you can glimpse the ancient crypts and tombs reserved for the clergy. After several reconstructions, now the Mother Church and the Altar is still the background of the old altar surmounted by a bas-relief in stucco altarpiece depicting the Assumption supported by seraphim. With the construction of the aisles, the church was further enlarged by moving the altars. Initially, the style of the altars of the nave was equal to that of the altar on the nave in front, in a sort of balancing artistic vision. But then, with several renovations and restorations fell into intervene too far, undermining that harmony so wisely reasoned. The whole church is painted in Venetian style: a beautiful marble effect perfectly realistic
