The oldest document that speaks of the Mother Church, dates back to 1738, describing it as a structure of considerable importance and artistic value to the center of Cellino. Already since 1769, and thereafter, there were a series of restorations. The same was full of altars to about twenty _years ago. It is currently equipped with of the main altar and two side altars: the Sacramento and San Marco. The altar of San Marco has always been referred to as "the altar of the Baron," probably because it was built by one of the lords of the family Chyurlia or because the local lords were there to celebrate the harvest. The bell tower was made in 1863 to rebuild. Among others we remember some canvases along the two lateral naves of the church such as the announcement of the escape of Egypt of the sixteenth century, the Blessed Virgin Immaculate, Our Lady, the crucifix and St. Mark in 1754.
