| It is the oldest church of Novoli and the first parish church, as such prior to construction of the church dedicated to St. Andrew the Apostle. Inside it retains a particularly important Byzantine fresco, an icon of the Virgin Odegitricia found in the Chapel of Mater Dei (as it was originally called) in 1865, among other image depicted in certain periods of time on the coat of arms. The fresco, placed chronologically in the early decades of the fourteenth century, representing the Madonna and Child flanked by the monograms MP and OY in Greek sides of the face of Mary, and IC and XC on the right of the figure of the Child |
