| The church, founded in 1288 with the adjacent convent, only the rear retains the medieval aspect. The facade is in baroque style. The inside has three naves divided by round arches, rich renaissance and baroque altars and an important high altar with a richly encarved ciborium, made of walnut wood in small temple shape (XVII century). The richly decorated with wall murals remain numerous testimonies and especially the precious frescoes of the XIV century to decorate the Chapel of St. Francis. The chapel is entirely painted with the scenes of San Francesco life. A remarkable Francescan relic is represented by a small phial containing the blood of San Francesco that is preserved on a XIV century reliquary. |
