The caves of Stiffe, are the point where a river comes back to light after an underground stretch. In the case of Stiffe this point is located at the apex of the gorge that overlooks the small village. The presence of a copious stream inside the cave has allowed the early twentieth century, the construction of a hydroelectric power station: powered by water transported downstream by means of a penstock, in some places is still visible near the entrance, and has been a source of energy until its destruction during world War II. The project to develop tourism in the cave dates back over thirty years ago, but only in the eighties were provided for the implementation, to reach, in 1991, the inauguration of the tourist complex "Stiffe Caves".
