| The worship of St. Vincenzo Ferreri and the Confraternity settlement had beginning when a group of Domenicani arrived in the town.
On 6th October in 1600, Dominican fathers gave the permission to Giovanni Giacomo Cetrelli in order to build the Chapel dedicated to Madonna del Rosario, in the atrium (the first arch on the right side) of the church of St. Domenico. The following year the church was reopened for the worship after many renovation works in order to receive a greater number of believers. Thanks to many donations of the believers, three interesting, well-carved wooden statues dressed on with fine brocade were placed on the inside. There is also a painting of Blessed Virgin with 15 misteries of the Holy Rosary made by an unknown artist. On December the 4th , in 1875, the General Father of the Order, Giovanni Maria San Vito, joined the worship of Madonna del Rosario with the Confraternity of the Dominican Order within the Church of St. Vincenzo. Recently, on the inside, an artistic handmade cork crib was placed, handmade by the artist Leonardo Loforese from Monopoli. |
