| The Church stands on the ruins of a pagan temple and was consecrated by Bishop William to Santa Maria Assunta in 1295. It has the Latin cross plan and three naves divided by two pairs of columns and was rebuilt, as evidenced by the inscription placed in the nave in 1580. Inside, at the base of the bell tower - built in the sixteenth century - you can visit the artistic nativity by Stephen Putignano built in the late Middle Ages, nativity, among other things, that has become a stamp on the work of Mint. Other sculptures are contained inside the cathedral of the same artist. In fact, you can find both the Pieta, the Virgin and Child. Moreover, the sacristy conserves depictions of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and a polyptych by Bartolomeo Vivarini the fifteenth century |
