The Cathedral, whose construction began in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries., Stands on the ruins of an early Christian temple: the structure has a Romanesque-Pugliese, feature the presence of the three doors on the main facade. Reminders of the Byzantine decorations are in the central portal and the apse window is an example of Arab-Muslim art. The building has a stately elegance and charm and authentic interior, today expressed by the severity of the stone. The interior, in fact, during the 18 century was transformed by the explosion of Baroque Cathedral was covered with stucco and gilt, and enriched with chapels and altars. But in 1911 all added decorations were lost and the church was restored.
