| The caves of Castellana open in the south eastern Murgia to 330 meters on the limestone plateau formed in the Late Cretaceous about 100 million years ago. The underground cavities extend for a length of about 3 km. The visit to the complex is possible through two routes. The natural entrance is represented by an enormous 60-meter deep chasm called the grave, the local dialect word to indicate a great chasm. From here you can reach the cave white. |
