| The monastery was founded in 1279. It was rebuilt in 1526 by Abbot Antonio Giannone. It was the seat of the Benedictine (olivetane) nuns until 1918. The church was restored and modified in the eighteenth and in the nineteenthth century. Today is the historic centre of education and training. It is the seat of the Confraternity of Maria Santissima delle Grazie.
The current building is in mixed style, with antique pieces of Romanesque and other modern neoclassical style. It was designed by architects Vito Valentino, in 1726-32, and Lerario Francesco, in 1837. The two cloisters date to the XVI and to the XVIII century. Inside are: Baroque altars, the coffered ceiling, paintings of Carlo Rosa (XVII century).; The tiled floor of the XVIII century was made by Vincent Pannone.
