| The majestic monastery was founded under the auspices of the University of Bitonto, in the year 1525, to host a cloistered Benedictine nuns. The sisters survived the confiscations and suppressions of the nineteenth century.
The present building dates from the early eighteenth century, and is in the Rococo style. The nuns offer religious accommodation and engage in many activities, such as the restoration of old books.
