| The church was founded by Bishop Paschal Joy in 1926 on land donated by a loyal city. The following year the church was consecrated and opened for worship.
The facade of local stone with a beautiful rich portal designed by engineer Felix Mezzina. Above the lunette with Christ, who comforts the afflicted, the work of fellow countryman Julius Cozzoli. Majestic is the bell tower with spire terminal, 41 m high.
Inside the church is divided into three aisles, the pulpit is fine and two stone statues, S. Gerard Maiella (1955) by the sculptor Salvatore Bruno of Bari and of Christ the Redeemer (1900 ca.), from the Cathedral. Precious is the fourteenth-century Byzantine painting of the Madonna delle Grazie.
