| The building is located in historic centre. It was founded in 1093, the site of an earlier Byzantine building. The architecture is of Romanesque style, with elements of traditional architectural elements of Pisa alongside Islamic origin. The material for construction is from the ancient Roman city.
After the sack of 1229, the city flourished thanks to the Angevins, which probably restored the facade and opened the triumphant rose.
Outside: bronze doors Oderisio from Benevento, that is in front of 1119, the side of 1127; side with blind arches on two levels.
Inside the cathedral is divided into three aisles by thirteen columns of marble. The plan is a Latin cross.
