The sanctuary is located in a small medieval village, a few kilometers from Terlizzi. It was founded in 1100, when the scene, according to legend, was found in the discovery of an icon representing the Black Madonna and Child. Next to the church were built a hospice for pilgrims and a hospital for the Crusaders, perhaps run by the Templars. The church is out of the Romanesque style. Within a single nave, full of baroque and neoclassical decorations. At the center of the floor opens a door that leads to the cave of the discovery of the icon. In the central, are remains of frescoes depicting Christ Pantocrator and some Apostles. A local side, which serves as a vestry, frescoes preserved with esoteric symbolism.
