| The church is situated at the cemetery, on a hill at the western side of the village Dolenje Kamence. The original longitudinal nave and its elements have a Roman concept, yet in the 17th century, its medieval apse was replaced by a vaulted presbytery; the originally flat ceiling of the nave transformed in a vault. The main altar is a unique example of the 17th century golden altars. The structure is a modest communal church, representing a beautiful example of a synergy of diverse styles through its Roman concept of the plan, its remains of Gothic frescoes that were partially removed and partially destroyed, as well as with its Baroque elements. Its location on the borders of the village creates a landmark in the ambience underneath the Hmeljnik hill. |
