| Solin’s Amphitheatre is fairly well preserved and is a part of the town’s defensive system. The site was first excavated by F.Carrara and again by the notable archaeologist Franc Bulic. This amphitheatre was considered to be able to hold 15,000 people. Close to the amphitheatre a gladiators burial ground has been found complete with epitaphs naming the fighters and their warrior skills. A reconstruction was made by a Danish archaeologist Egnar Dyggve. |
