The building of Tusculum was built by Frane Bulic to accommodate the archaeologists studying Roman Solin. Frane Bulic is buried nearby in a sarcophagus with a Roman Christian inscription. The museum now houses displays dedicated to this respected archaeologist and the Roman site here at Solin. A number of the important inscriptions that were discovered at Salona are now housed in the museum of Split. Ancient Salona was a coastal stronghold for the Illyrians and became the centre of Dalmatia. A theatre and temple were built here as well as an impressive amphitheatre.
