The castle of Canosa stands in the place of the ancient acropolis of the city, already turned into a fortress of the Roman era. It was built by the Normans and rebuilt by the Swabians, who reused the blocks of tufa of existing structures. From 1856 to 1948 was owned by fam. Capece Minutolo Principles of Naples. The castle was badly damaged by bombing in World War II.
