The Archaeological Museum of Split was started in the 16th century by a Croatian nobleman who had an interest in archaeology. The present building for the museum was built in 1914 and reopened to the public in 1922. The museum has a large collection starting from the prehistoric times and includes coins, subterranean archaeological discoveries and epigraphic. The museum also has a restorer’s workshop and a library with archival facilities.
