| The Castle Minervino Murge located on the edge of town, on top of the hill to the north, in a defensive position.
The construction of the most ancient part of the castle dates back to Norman times, presumably in 1042 and was completed in early 1300. Today it is the Archaeological Museum.
After being used as a fortress for centuries (in particular, please note the sieges and battles of 1341 and 1350 between Pipino and Del Balzo) the castle knew in the first half of 1600, a series of profound changes to the work of the Prince Pignatelli, between the feudal lords 1619 and 1657, which transformed it into a
luxurious residence. |
