| It is located about 2km from the village, built in 1971 at the location where the old sanctuary was built in the sixteenth century, in a dense forest of oaks and oaks in honor of the Madonna.
We read in the “Istrumento di vendita del feudo”: “Distante da detta terra verso Ponente, si trova la chiesa di Santa Maria del Bosco dentro la defensa dell’Università, la quale chiesa è ad una Nave, coverta con tetti.
In testa è l’altare maggiore con un icona di S. Maria del Bosco e, dietro dell’altare, vi è il choro alla sinistra, tra la Cappella di Santo Onofrio e San Pio: Sopra tela con cornice negra. Vi sono molte stanze pro comodità, in piano è la bocca della cisterna…”

| From August 12 to 14, we celebrate the great feast of the patron saint Our Lady of the Woods with illuminations, fireworks, music on the streets with band concerts. The feast, full of religious celebrations, is colored with magic and mystery that evokes the legend of the discovery the icon of the Virgin, which later became the village's patron. The procession, carries the sacred image of the Virgin, found by a woodsman in the trunk of a tree from the Cathedral to the shrine. The Tuesday after Easter returns to the country where it remains throughout the summer. During the feast stalls and food stalls sell the typical local products and welcome citizens and tourists. |
