The Church of Our Lady of Sinj is a popular pilgrimage destination and an important spiritual centre within Croatia itself. An image of the Virgin said to date from the 1500’s is celebrated by the pilgrims and religious people in Sinj each year on the fifteenth of August. The image was brought here to Sinj in 1687 by some Franciscan monks who were fleeing from the Turks away from their home in Rama.
