The monastery was built with the alms of the people and was donated to the Dominican Fathers.
Bishop D'Aquino put at the disposal of the Order of Preachers, also the ancient adjacent church dedicated to St. Thomas.
The convent became important for the Dominican Province and was designated as Chapter Headquarters.
Both the convent and the church, the next two centuries, suffered considerable damage due to various events, for which the Fathers, undertook a general restoration began in 1700 and completed in 1711.
In 1809 the Dominicans lasciaronodefinitivamente the convent and the city. |
