| Located at the beginning of the historical Josefina Road that leads from Karlovac towards Senj, the statue Miljokaz is a symbol of the economical development of the town of Karlovac. The building of the road started in 1775 during the reign of Joseph II and was finished in1779, it’s final stop being the Great Gates of Senj. It was in this year that the city of Karlovac was declared a ‘free royal town’. Miljokaz is placed on the exact spot that marks a 115 km distance between Karlovac and Senj and it also shows the distance between Karlovac and Rijeka which is written in the old German metric system. In 1892, another Karlovac landmark, Zorin Dom was built next to this monument as well as the beautiful promenade. |
