Description:
This is a young but well-known pilgrimage church with two Secessionist or Art Nouveau bell towers and stained-glass windows by Stane Kregar. Local people like to call it the ?Dolenjska Brezje? after Gorenjska?s famous pilgrimage church. The church acquired its present appearance in 1926 when the construction of the two bell towers was completed. In the forest near the Zaplaz church is Marijin studenec, (Mary?s fountain), which people usually call ?žegnani studenec? (blessed fountain). It is believed that the water from this fountain has healing power, especially for diseases of the eye.
